Asking The Right Questions
In my 20’s, I learned one of my most valuable “life lessons” from a ski instructor. His lesson was this; “Rule#1, Don’t look where you don’t want to go!” He continued; “Look at the cliff, you will turn towards the cliff. Look at the trees and you’ll end up in the trees.” His, Rule #1, has been a big part of my life and many of our successes in our business and family have lead back to this simple statement I heard 30 years ago… Where you look is where you go!

This rule not only applies to your vision for your future, it also applies to your daily self-talk. If you ask yourself negative questions, you will always get negative answers.

There are absolutely no positive answers to; “Why me?” “What if I am not good enough?” “Why didn’t I?” “What if?” “What am I missing?” etc. When you ask yourself these questions, brace yourself for a vivid replay of every past failure, shortcoming, and weakness in your life. Your toughest critic will always be you and you must learn how to shut “YOU” up! Would you allow someone else to ask you the demoralizing questions you sometimes ask yourself? I doubt it. So stop it!

To protect yourself from this self torture, you must learn to ask yourself more positive questions. Train yourself to ask questions that push you in the right direction and help you find solutions. “What can I do right now to move forward?” “What is the right thing to do here?” “What can I do today to make a better tomorrow?” “What solutions have I not tried yet?” You will be surprised how smart and supportive “YOU” can be when you ask yourself the right questions!

Remember this, It’s impossible to live a positive life with a negative mind!

You’ve got this!
